Judy Watts Joins UGLN Landcare Team
Judy Watts from Molesworth has joined the Landcare team in the Upper Goulburn. Judy joins Cathy Olive, and Fire Recovery Coordinator, Chris Cobern to provide Coordinator services to the nine community based Landcare groups that form the Upper Goulburn Landcare Network – a network acknowledged for delivering on ground works.
Judy moved to Molesworth at the end of 2007 with her husband Brad and 4 daughters and will be well known to many locals through her work as a Veterinarian Nurse in Yea. Judy and Brad worked closely with Cath Olive and Sue Koch at GBCMA to develop a revegetation program on the property Brad manages, planting over 20,000 trees in just four years.
Network Chairman, Terry Hubbard said “Judy’s blend of academic qualifications, hands on experience gained on the farm, and an infectious enthusiasm to engage and help our Landcare groups grow, make her ideal for this job.” Importantly, Judy will provide important administrative support to Cathy Olive’s work helping landowners move to more sustainable
agricultural practices and implementing environmental programs.
The position, funded by State Government for three years, provides an ideal opportunityto energise Landcare groups at the grassroots level and help landholders transition to appropriate sustainable practices, and …. importantly, to have fun while they are doing it” Terry added.
With four daughters Judy, in her spare time, has been involved in many kinder committees and is currently Vice-President of Yea Primary School Council.
